Brent is a musician and painter in the Baltimore MD area who I had the pleasure of getting to know in college. His work is amazing, uplifting  beautiful, and worth checking out here. A walk around Baltimore, some studio time, an amazing artspace, an old friend, and chilly Baltimore weather on a November afternoon. Lifestyle sessions at their very best.

One of the reasons I was excited to be back on the east coast was to be attend carnivals all summer long. In every county in Maryland, small carnivals are set up funding for the local fire department and, admittedly, I’ve already been to 4 this summer alone.

This carnival lifestyle session was especially amazing because it featured two of my new favorite people, Serena and Chad, the photographers behind Love By Serena. Serena is also one of the ladies behind the Baltimore area wedding blog Charm City Wed. Between waiting for the rain to clear to shoot and then putting off riding the ferris wheel until the lightening died down, ice cream was eaten, funnel cake was had, and we got the carnival to ourselves for just a little while. Cotton candy, hot dogs, fixed carnival games, and rickety rides; the quintessential summer experience.

This past spring, before Miriam returned to Germany, I got to spend an afternoon with her and Mathew taking photos around Frederick, Maryland. A trip to a soda shop, warm sunlight, a denim jacket, grey cardigan, lots of laughs, and a bittersweet goodbye.

Last weekend, I was in New York City for Ryan Brenizer’s workshop to help assist Ryan and also to hang out with the lovely Sara Byrne. We had a few minutes of downtime in Central Park and in the spirit of the workshop, I tried my first ever Brenizer Method series of photos with Sara as my model. This photo is comprised of 17 photos shot at f/1.2 with the 85L. I am… so in love with it.

I’m all kinds of smitten with this method now and will have to do these more soon. You can learn all about The Brenizer Method on his site and, for the record, he also does pretty rad workshops. It’s so strange to think that in a few short months, I’ll be going from my 50 degree winters to the wintery wonderland of DC in January. In the meantime, I’m soaking in this weather and taking photos of beautiful people in lovely lighting and perfect weather.
